As reported by Tortoise Media, a group of prominent authors in the United States has united to initiate legal action against OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT, and Meta (formerly known as Facebook) regarding copyright allegations.
The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI's GPT-3 language model has been utilized to produce text that infringes upon their copyrighted works. The authors are pursuing compensation for damages and requesting an injunction against both companies. The lawsuit is being filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
