📰 NEWS

🍎 Apple’s plans for AI Chatbot

Reportedly, Apple is currently working on a new AI chatbot referred to as Apple GPT. Similar to OpenAI's GPT-3 and Google AI's LaMDA, this chatbot is still in the development phase.

The project, codenamed Ajax, is being undertaken by Apple's AI team, led by John Giannandrea, and they are using Apple's proprietary data to train Apple GPT. This data advantage could give Apple's chatbot an edge over its competitors.

The AI chatbot market is rapidly expanding, with companies like Microsoft and Shopify already utilizing OpenAI's GPT-3, and Google using LaMDA. Apple's entry into this arena is expected to have a significant impact, given its prominent position in the technology industry.

As per available information, Apple GPT is designed to handle tasks like text generation, language translation, creative content writing, and providing informative answers to user questions. Though still in the testing phase within Apple, there has been no official announcement regarding its public release.

♾️ Meta’s new open-source Chatbot Llama 2

Meta has decided to release its LLaMA 2 AI model as open source, aiming to foster collaboration and innovation within the artificial intelligence field. LLaMA 2, a robust language model, boasts capabilities such as text generation, language translation, and question answering.

The company believes that making LLaMA 2 open source will encourage developers to experiment with the model and create novel applications. Moreover, Meta envisions this move as a step towards addressing ethical concerns surrounding AI development.

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's spokesperson, emphasizes their commitment to open source, stating that it is the most effective way to build superior AI while ensuring responsible and ethical practices.

With 137B parameters, LLaMA 2 has undergone extensive training on a vast dataset of text and code. Although still in development, it has already been utilized to build various applications, including a chatbot capable of answering questions about the Metaverse. Meta is releasing LLaMA 2 under the Apache 2.0 license, granting the freedom to use it for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.

🚕 SEC warns of major AI risks

Gary Gensler, the Chair of the SEC, has cautioned about the potential AI risks to financial stability. During a speech on July 17, he highlighted the dangers of AI in automating trading, generating complex financial products, and manipulating markets.

The SEC is actively studying these risks to implement suitable regulations, and Gensler urged the financial industry to proactively address these concerns.

Some of the key takeaways from Gensler’s speech include:

  • AI could be used to automate trading, which could lead to increased market volatility

  • AI could be used to manipulate markets by artificially inflating or deflating prices

  • AI could be used to create new financial products that are too complex for regulators to understand

Gensler mentioned that the SEC is working to understand these risks and to develop appropriate regulations. He also called on the financial industry to be proactive in addressing these risks.

🧠 INSIGHTS

🔬 3 ways you can start using AI today

  1. Use AI chatbots to help you write

AI chatbots are amongst the most popular AI tools today with big names such as ChatGPT, Bard, Bing, and Claude 2. You can easily utilise these tools to help generate drafts, edit your writing, and gather research for you.

  2. Generate and create images

Image generation AI tools such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and DALL-E 2 are super fun and accessible and can help you create any image that you desire or can imagine.

  3. Learn about any topic

AI has the potential to provide more beneficial responses compared to conventional searches, especially in domains like tech support, advice, or how-tos. Additionally, AI excels at explaining intricate subjects in easy-to-understand terms. However, it's crucial to exercise caution and occasionally verify the answers because AI can sometimes "hallucinate" or generate inaccurate information.

👨🏼‍🎓 AI MASTER CLASS

Using Midjourney’s ‘zoom’ feature

One of Midjourney’s newest feature allows you to zoom out of any image. It allows for endless creativity which you can use for video creation and more.

It’s pretty simple, here’s how to do it:
